James from Apex came out and checked out some plumbing that we needed worked on in late December 2013/early January 2014. He gave us a quote of $600 to do everything, including digging up and replacing the main line. He gave a date when he would return to do the work, but there was a hard freeze which caused a lot of people to have busted pipes, so he didn't make it out. This was understandable because the weather is not under our control, but when we called to ask when he would be able to do it he acted unfamiliar and asked again what needed to be done. This time he gave a quote of $800 to do the work. $800 did not sound entirely unreasonable so we went ahead and hired him.

The generator did not belong to us. We had borrowed it from a friend, and thought that we were going to have to replace it, but something very strange happened. The guy we borrowed the generator from called us and said that he had found it. It turns out that one of the guys who replaced the main water line had asked him if he wanted to buy a generator. The guy almost had a heart attack when he realized that he was trying to sell a stolen generator back to the guy who owned it and promptly handed it over, but there were other tools and a few other items that were stolen that he had already gotten rid of and we were unable recover.

Apex Plumbing is apparently a very shady operation, employing thieves and incompetent plumbers. I would strongly discourage any one from dealing with them in any fashion.

Thieves, shoddy work!

Back to the missing generator...

They finally came out and finished the rest of the plumbing a few days later, and immediately after finishing, one of the fittings that they had installed started leaking. They said that they would stand behind their work and fixed it, so at this point we still did not think much of it. That could happen to anyone so it was no big deal, until a few days later, when EVERY FITTING in one of the bathrooms came loose and flooded the room. They did come out and fix it but did not offer to take care of any water damage that was done.

First he sent someone out to dig up and replace the main line. Shortly after, a generator that we had in the house disappeared. At first this seemed totally unrelated to the plumbers, more on that later.
